Obituary of June E. Smith

Rev. June E. Smith, 76, of 5237 Washington Street, Ashville, died Wednesday June 10, 2015, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born June 4, 1939, in Corry, PA, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lillian Austin Hallett. She was a 1957 graduate of Falconer High School and later attended Central Bible Institute, Springfield, MO. As an ordained minister of Independent Assembly of God International, she served as assistant pastor at Church On The Hilltop, Aiken, PA along with the late Rev. Evelyn Crossley. She later founded Faith Church of Charity, Port Allegheny, PA, where she served as pastor for 38 years. She had the privilege of ministering with assistant pastors Rev. Shirley A. Bowser for 11 years, Paul Mallery for a short time and for 19 years with Rev. Darlene Thorne. Surviving are her husband George R. Smith, Sr. whom she married May 9, 1959; four children George Smith, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Becky) Smith of Ashville, Deborah (John) Mallery and Stephen (Angela) Smith, both of Port Allegheny; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a sister Nancy Schuyler of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Dolores Snyder. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Pamela Dutro will officiate.
