Obituary of Donna J. Fox
Donna J. Fox, 87, of 743 Falconer St. formerly of Port Orange, FL, passed away at 11:43 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, in the Lutheran Retirement Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A Jamestown resident for most of her life, she was born July 3, 1927 in Corry, PA, a daughter of the late Elmer A. and Ethel Lindsey Vettenburg.
She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a graduate of the first nursing class at Jamestown Community College.
For many years she was employed as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at W.C.A. Hospital and also taught in the nursing program at Jamestown Community College. She later worked in the office of Dr. Palmer Lindbloom, DDS for several years.
Donna was a former member of the First Covenant Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher and was a counselor for the Senior High League. While living in Florida she was a member of the Port Orange Presbyterian Church where she participated in many bible studies.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to spend time knitting. She made many prayer shawls and baby seat covers for family and friends. She was also an accomplished artist painting and drawing many beautiful pictures.
Surviving are her three children, Karen (Charles Eastham) Fox of Iowa City, IA, Gregory (Patricia) Fox of St. Peters, MO, Cindy (Andrew) Alpaugh of Jamestown, seven grandchildren, Abbey (Jason) Hansen of Evanston, IL, Aaron Krohmer, Ashley Eastham both of Iowa City, IA, Lars (Abby) Fox, Cherstin (Tom) Byers both of St. Loius, MO, Joshua (Carrie) Alpaugh of Springfield, VA, Jeremiah (Melissa) Alpaugh of Lorton, VA, Marissa (Michael) Hamilton of Springfield, VA and sixteen great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl T. Fox, Jr. whom she married April 19, 1947 and who died October 31, 2010, a daughter, Marcia Lee, a sister, Marie Lamb and a brother, John Vettenburg.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Kilburn of Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Inurnment will be next to her husband Carl in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
