Obituary of Rachel B. Leonard
Rachel B. Leonard, 91, of 3760 Bard Rd., Cassadaga, formerly of Jamestown, Randolph and Zephyrhills, Fla., died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing with family by her side.
She was the widow of Irvin F. Leonard, Jr. whom she married August 5, 1945 and who died August 10, 2008.
Rachel was born in Jamestown on August 30, 1923, the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Cederquist Blanchard. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown Community College's LPN Program and had also attended Jamestown Business College.
She was employed as treasurer of the Jamestown Blind Association for a number of years and then with her husband working as bookkeeper of Leonard Ford in Randolph.
Rachel enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting and had done so for many years with the North Main St. Ladies Aid Society. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are two sons: James E. Leonard of Cassadaga and Lynn F. Leonard of Falconer; a daughter, Elaine F. (John) Hunter of Edmond, OK; eight grandchildren: Laura Leonard of Forestville, NY, Amy (JB) Foster of Edmond, Emily (Robert) Ford of Northfield, NJ, Robert Hunter of Edmond, Paul Leonard of Olean, Sherry Leonard of Jamestown, James T. (Ann) Leonard of Sinclairville and Debrah (Brian) Miller of Jamestown. Also surviving are fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ina Milliron Blanchard and a son, Steven T. Leonard who died in 2011.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Raymond Linza, retired pastor, will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Chautauqua Blind Assoc., 510 W. Fifth St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
