Obituary of Elizabeth S. Canfield

Elizabeth S. "Betsy" Canfield, 83, of Jamestown, NY passed away Thursday August 27, 2015 in the Lutheran Home. (LSS) She was born December 6, 1931 in Blossburg, PA the daughter of the late Paul Rockwell Sawyer and Helene Elizabeth Evans Sawyer of Liberty and Mansfield, PA. Betsy attended school in Mansfield and graduated from Towanda, PA in 1950. She attended the University at Mansfield in 1950, Penn State in 1951, and transferred to LIM College in New York City where she graduated in 1954. After graduation, Betsy worked as an Assistant Buyer at Saks Fifth Avenue. She was an avid reader and enjoyed singing in many local choirs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kelton E. Canfield whom she married October 16, 1954 at the Metropolitan Divine Methodist Church in Greenwich Village, NYC; and a sister, Nancy Ealy. Surviving are her children, Ann Crandall and Paul Sawyer Canfield; grandchildren Melisa Ann Adams and Laura Nicole Sargent; and great grandchildren Caydence Gabriella Savine Adams and Cameron Kelly Raymond Miller; along with the many friends and neighbors she shared her wisdom and wit with over the years. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday September 1, 2015 in the Glenwood Cemetery located in Troy, PA. The Rev. Daniel S.
