Obituary of Elfriede M. Brumfield

Elfriede M. Brumfield, 88, of Laurie Lane, died Thursday August 27, 2015, in WCA Hospital. A native of Darmstadt, Germany, she was born July 14, 1927, a daughter of George and Margarete Schroebel Schmidt. Prior to her retirement in 1992, she was employed for thirty years by Dr. Larry Carlson, DDS, as office secretary. Prior to coming to the United States she worked for Merck Chemical in Germany. She volunteered at WCA Hospital for over 25 years. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club and enjoyed time spent with the ladies of Jamestown who were former residents of Germany. Her family was very important to her. She prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After coming to this country she always missed her parents and managed to keep close ties to her homeland, friends and family. Surviving is a son Jack R. (Liz) Brumfield of Mission Viejo, CA; two grandsons Patrick (Rebecca) Brumfield of North Tustin, CA and Gregory (Melissa Ingraham) Brumfield of Mission Miejo, CA; three great grandchildren Berlyn, Hudson and Silas Brumfield; a sister Liselotte Peterson of Jamestown and a nephew Heinz Weiland of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Brumfiled, whom she married in Germany January 7, 1946 and who died November 13, 2003 and a daughter Diana Brumfield Andrews July 26, 2003.
