Obituary of Robert L. Treharne

Robert L. Treharne, 83, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of 517 Stowe St. and the Frewsburg Rest Home, died Monday, September 7, 2015 in WCA Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1932 in Ridgeway, PA, a son of the late John B. and Nora Treharne. Bob attended Jamestown Public Schools and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He received his high school diploma April 26, 2014 through Operation Recognition. A former employee of Proto Tool, City Bus Co, and Crescent Tool Co., he retired from Laidlaw Transportation where he was a school bus driver for the Jamestown Public School System. He was a member of the Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Bob loved being with his family, friends and neighbors who dubbed him the "Mayor of Stowe St." He was an avid fan of the Yankees and Bills, a bird watcher and a jokester. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia A. Doley Treharne whom he married September 29, 1956; 3 sons: John R. Treharne of Jamestown, Robert L. Treharne Jr., (Vivienne) of Tallahassee FL, and David M. Treharne (Amelia) and one grandson, David M. Treharne Jr., all of East Syracuse, N.Y. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Helen Griswold Treharne; a grandson Christopher Lee Treharne of Clearwater, FL; and a sister Shirley Jones and brother, Jack Treharne. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Apostles Parish, St. Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will officiate. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Parish, St. Peter & Paul Church, 508 Cherry St., or the Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown, 62 Allen St., both Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the a charity of one's choice.
