Obituary of Desire A. Bennett
Desire A. Bennett, 78, formerly of 111 N. Laurel Street Lakewood, NY passed away Sunday September 20, 2015 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Williamsville, NY.
She was born September 10, 1937 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Leslie and Alberta Emley Johnson.
For many years Desire worked at M.J. Fletcher Elementary School. She was a long time member and former officer of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary. Desire was also an extremely avid sports fan.
Surviving are a daughter, Heather J. Bennett (Thomas Weiss) of Buffalo; a son, Troy A. Bennett (Krista Hanny) of Rochester; and a nephew, Stephen (SueAnne) Johnson of Galt, CA.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Bennett, whom she married May 23, 1959 and who died January 31, 1998; and a brother, Leslie Johnson.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Nicholas Perry, pastor of Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
