Obituary of Ellen M. Kane

Ellen Brown (Peterson) Kane, 67, of Jamestown passed away unexpectedly Monday September 21, 2015 in the Emergency Department at WCA Hospital. She was born August 9, 1948 in Salamanca, NY the youngest of three children of the late Hubert Brown and Bertha Annis. Ellen was a 1969 graduate of Randolph High School. She went to work at Jamestown General Hospital. After it closed, she went to work at Bill & Flo's Restaurant in Falconer, NY. While working at the restaurant, she made friends with everyone that came in. In 1991, Ellen moved to Albany, NY where she cleaned houses and offices. Later she worked for the New York State Thruway Authority until she retired. After retirement, she moved to Jamestown with her companion of 22 years Neil Magro with whom she made a home with. Ellen was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America #865 and the Falconer Moose. In addition to her companion Neil Magro, she is survived by two sons, Timothy Peterson (Sue) of Junction City, KS; Todd Peterson who she made a home with; a daughter, Lisa Peterson (Bob Van Name) of Falconer, NY; three grandsons, Tim Peterson Jr. of Kansas; Daniel Blake of Falconer; Kyle Blake (Jackie) in the US Army in Hawaii; a great grandson, Hunter Blake of Randolph whom she loved dearly; a sister Doris Miller of Avon Park, Fl; and a brother Victor Brown of Frostproof, FL. Ellen is also survived by her good friend and former husband of 18 years, Fred Peterson with whom she had three children. She was preceded in death by her father in 1997 and her mother in 2012. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a time of remembrance and sharing will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday.
