Obituary of Nancy L. VanGuilder

Nancy L. VanGuilder, 68, formerly of 30 Almet Ave. Falconer, NY, passed away at 10:43 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015, in the home of her daughter at 2287 28th Creek Rd., Gerry, NY. A lifelong area resident, she was born October 17, 1946 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Howard and Phyllis Peterson Smith. She was a graduate of Southwestern Central School and before her retirement was employed as a billing clerk for W.C.A. Services Corporation for several years. She was a member of the Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion Auxiliary and the Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed doing needlepoint. She also loved to play bingo and take trips to the casino. Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda (James) Miller of Gerry, NY, a son, David (Robin) VanGuilder of Jamestown, five grandchildren, Joshua Gross of Mass., Lindsey Gross, Ayla Myers, Brandyn Weber all of Jamestown, Jonathan Miller of Rochester, NY, six great grandchildren, Jeremy, Alexis, Karley, Lillian, Ariona and MaKenzie, a sister, Diane (Richard) Pollaro, a niece Kimberly (Michael) Hall both of Youngsville, PA and her five grandpups. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. VanGuilder whom she married June 27, 1964 and who died suddenly on December 23, 1993 and two grandsons, Jamie and Jeremy Butts. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, in the Lind Funeral Home. The rev. David McCarthy, pastor of the Gerry Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville, NY. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015, in the funeral home.
