Obituary of Brenda B. Mlacker

Brenda B. Mlacker, 76, of Ashville, NY, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Monday, September, 28th, 2015, following a 9 year battle with cancer. Brenda was a native of Forestville, NY, born May 23rd, 1938, a daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Brink Bradigan. She was a graduate of Forestville High School and completed her Bachelor's and dual Master's Degrees in Special Education and Psychology at SUNY Fredonia. A homemaker, she had in earlier years been a teacher of Elementary students at Falconer School and also taught special needs children privately. She had been a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church and more recently Ashville United Methodist Church where she also sang in the Choir. Brenda was a very special person, always going out of her way to help and care for others over the years. She was a talented writer, artist, pianist, baker and she loved to garden and spend time on the lake with her family - in the latter years spending winters in Leesburg, Fla. Brenda is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary Mlacker; 3 sons: Gary Kevin (Connie) and Brian B. (Susan) Mlacker, both of Jamestown, and Gregory A. Mlacker of Miami, Fla.; 11 grandchildren: Natalie and Rick Kress, Sonja Benchley, Heather Conti, and Brett, Gregory Michael, Michelle, Ashley, Stephanie, Jonathan and Daniel Mlacker; as well as 4 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Jonathan P. Mlacker in 2006; and a sister, Joan B. Rine in 1976. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Ashville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nicholas Perry will officiate. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
