My sincerest sympathies to the family of Monsieur Coffman. I was one of his students in the early 80s and had the pleasure of going on two of his trips- one to Quebec and one to Europe. His passion for the French language stuck with me, and I continued to study French in college.
Mr. Coffman approached me my senior year to see if my family might be interested in hosting a Rotary exchange student. We did, and 31 years later, Isabelle Sak and I are still 'exchange sisters' who have shared weddings, reunions, and family trips together. In fact, we talked about Monsieur this summer when my family visited hers in Belgium. I think he would be pleased to know that he had a hand in this lifelong international friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Ann and Family,
I am very sorry for this loss; "Mr. Coffman" had a great impact on my life as a JHS student as well as a grown adult. It was his passion for the beautiful French language that has and always will resonate with me.
I will never forget our trip to Quebec with the French Club. I put ketchup on a beautifully prepared French dish and he would never let me forget it. As a result, my nickname from that point forward was "La Sauce De Tomate."
I have made several visits to France since high school and hope to make several more. He will always be a great memory when I do so.

Terrific and patient teacher; I still use, in a fractured manner, some of the French language and stylings he taught me in the early 1970s. I'm sure hundreds, if not thousands, remember him as fondly as I do. Merci, Mr. Coffman.

Mr.Coffman was my French teacher at Jamestown High School during the early 1970's. Many years later, I ran into Mr. Coffman and told him that from kindergarten through graduate school, he was one of the best teachers I had ever had. Being the modest person he was, I'm pretty sure my comment embarrassed him, but it was the truth.

To my French teacher...you made my love of all things French grow and I am proud to carry on that tradition in my own classroom now as I pass on your teachings to them. You were an amazing teacher and wonderful man. I send my sincere condolences to your wife and to your daughter and my friend, Chris. A la prochaine, mon cher prof.

My sincerest thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Mr. Coffman. I had the pleasure of having him as my French Teacher in High School. I always looked forward to that class because we had soo much fun! He was such a good sport, as we put him to the test with some classroom antics, but it was always in good humor. He patiently translated Sesame Street into French so we could go on our tour my Senior Year. I can still sing Rubber Ducky in French to this day!
A very fine man, a very wonderful teacher.....he will be missed by many, but I am glad he is in Heaven and free of pain. Much Love and Light to the family, and to Monsieur Coffman on his transition.
