Obituary of Janice Louise Barr

Janice Louise Servis Barr, 96 was called to Heaven to reunite with her husband Wayne Wednesday November 18, 2015. She was born September 7, 1919 to Clarence and Wilma Paton Servis. She was a graduate of the Jamestown High School class of 1937. She played cello in the Jamestown Symphony Orchestra. Janice worked as a secretary at Royal Upholstery, Bigelow's, Super Duper, and did cleaning for various people. She was a very active member of the Buffalo Street United Methodist Church from the time she was a little girl until it closed. She had been a board member as well as president of United Methodist Women, choir director for several years and Sunday School teacher as well as many other church activities. She enjoyed bowling in the Wednesday women's bowling league at Ten Pins Lanes for many years. She also enjoyed painting and took classes at Erlene Lydell's paint studio in Busti. Many of her paintings hang in the homes of her family and friends. Janice was also a member of the Chautauqua County music study group, TOPS weight loss group of Jamestown, Ellery Center and Mayville Senior Citizens. She will be deeply missed by her entire family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Barr of Jamestown; Donna (Robert) Tracy of Mayville, NY; Darlene (James) Zimmerman of Mt Pleasant, SC; a son Gary Barr of Toano, VA; her grandchildren, Christine Tracy of Mayville; Robert (Melissa) Tracy of Fredonia, NY; James Zimmerman of Columbia, SC; Jessica (Eric) Fawcett of Toano, VA; great grandchildren, Morgan and Lauren Tracy; Ella Zimmerman; Bo Huggins; Arielle Huggins; a brother, James (Helen) Servis of Jamestown; a sister in law, Mary Lou Servis of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Barr whom she married September 17, 1949 and who died September 26, 1994; two great grandchildren, Trenton and Braedon Tracy; and a brother, Lawrence Servis. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Chaplin Donald Carlson of Absolut will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
