Obituary of Betty J. Roddy

Betty J. Roddy, 78, of 606 East Sixth St. Jamestown, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident since 2006, she was born October 31, 1937 in Nashville, TN a daughter of the late Rev. William D. and Mary E. Sperlock Allen. She grew up in the Baptist church playing the piano singing praises to the Lord. She enjoyed her computer, shopping and spending time with her family and friends, especially at Christmas. She was also very active in politics and loved reading her democratic pages that she created on Facebook. . She had attended the Busti Federated Church while living in the Jamestown area. Surviving are six children, Mark (Theresa) Fox of New Carlisle, OH, Kim (Mark) Robinson of Clarksville, TN, Stacey Fox of Fairborn, OH, Sonya (John Fackler) Hardy with whom she made her home in Jamestown, Tiffaney (Roland) Carnes of Salamanca, NY, Shawn Hardy of Jamestown, 12 grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicholas and Ben Fox, Brandon Hardy, Zechariah, Jared and Noah Stringer, Amberlee and Autumn Fox, Marcus Zuguilder, Andrea Meyers and Hayley Hardy, several great grandchildren and a great great grandson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John D. Roddy who died December 19, 1997, a brother, Billy D. Allen who died in 2011 and an infant granddaughter, Ashley Renee Hardy who died in 1989. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
