Obituary of Marie J. Larson

Marie "Pedie" Phelps Larson, 86, formerly of Avalon Blvd. Jamestown, passed away Monday January 11, 2016 in WCA Hospital. She was born December 12, 1929 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Henry J. and Marie Hansen Hokonson. Pedie was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to retirement she was employed as a secretary for the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District. She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ and the Vikings. Surviving are her daughter, Karen D. Hays of Coconut Creek, FL; two granddaughters, Kira Hays and Maia Hays both of Coconut Creek; her dear friend and sister in law, Claire Morrison of Warren, PA; a niece, Sandra Jean (Steven) Gustafson of Jamestown; two step daughters, Joan (Dave) Hinderer of Panama, NY; Julie (Paul) Elliott of Nampa, ID; and a step granddaughter, Megan Hinderer of Panama. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Phelps; her second husband, Vernon S. "Bud" Larson; a brother, Edward Hokonson; and a sister, Esther Woodruff. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
