A talented carpenter, he built his family's home, as well as many pieces of furniture, shelving and hydroplane boats. Dick also enjoyed snowmobiling and boating, belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and in earlier years was active in Fluvanna Cub Scouting.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Georgia Dildine Hiller, whom he married August 8, 1948; four sons: Paul (Connie) Hiller of Fredonia, Brian (Sheryl) Hiller of Glendale, AZ, Mark Hiller of Jamestown and Warren Hiller of Glen Burnie, MD; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Elaine) Hiller of Florida.
