Obituary of Margaret C. Knott

Margaret C. Knott, 94, of 197 Yolande Ave WE, passed away Thursday January 28, 2016 in her home. She was born September 17, 1921 in Jamestown the daughter of the late John and Emma Schmidt Carlson. Margaret graduated in the top 20 of her class of 1939 from Jamestown High School and helped organize class reunions for many years. From 1939 until 1985 she worked at the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities as an accountant, retiring as accounting supervisor. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Vikings, and Thule Lodge. An avid golfer and bowler, Margaret was City Bowling League Champion. She was a worldwide traveler and was known for sending cards and letters. Surviving are her son, Richard "Rick" (Mary) Knott of West Ellicott; two grandchildren, Trey and Kaitlyn Knott; two sisters, Catherine Kettle of Lakewood and her twin Marie Nelson of Jamestown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Knott whom she married July 4, 1953 and who died September 16, 1986. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
