Obituary of Rita J. Wells

Rita J. Wells, 67, of Chautauqua Colony Apartments Lakewood, passed away Sunday February 7, 2016 in WCA Hospital. She was born July 5, 1948 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Ward L. and Julia Sherlene Hallenbeck Sr. Rita had worked at the Resource Center and previously at the former Jamestown General Hospital. Surviving are a brother, Ward (Kathy) Hallenbeck of Lakewood; two sisters, Carresse and Mary; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful four legged companion, her dog Maggie Ann. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Wells whom she married July 20, 1968 and who died September 18, 2003; and a brother, Ellis Hallenbeck. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Shreffler, Heritage Group chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; or the Chautauqua County Humane Society 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
