Obituary of Ruth M. Johnson

Ruth M. Johnson, 84, formerly of Southwestern Drive, Jamestown, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6,2016) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. . A lifelong area resident she was born April 1, 1931 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Axel Leonard and Agda Ohlsson Johnson. Before her retirement Ruth was employed as an administrative assistant at Aarque Steel Companies. In earlier years she was employed by the former Art Metal Inc. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Piece Makers Quilting group, American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation, and Thule Lodge 127, VASA Order of America. She was also active with the Hazeltine Library Board. Ruth will be fondly remembered for her artistic talents. Many of her painting's, needlepoint and rosemaling slates are cherished by her family. She enjoyed reading and traveling and her trip to Sweden to visit relatives was a highlight. Surviving are her sister-in-law Allene Johnson, nephew Randall (Cathryn) Johnson of Monroe, CT, niece Karen (Dennis) Lindemoen of Minneapolis, MN, great nieces: Jennifer (Michael) Parsell and Tricia (Robert) Pagel of Monroe, CT. and great nieces and nephews: Augusta, Briggs and Troy Parsell, Lucy and Lila Pagel of Monroe, CT. and cousins in Sweden. She was preceded in death by her two brothers; Chester L. Johnson and Rune L. Johnson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Anderson, interim pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
