Obituary of Patricia Nelson
Patricia Nelson, 87, of the Dibert Home, 484 Fairmount Ave. W.E. formerly of Valerie Lane, W.E. passed away at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, in W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, she was born June 16, 1928 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of the late DeForest W. and Marguerite Shaw Peterson.
Before her retirement she was a medical secretary for the medical office of Dr. William Hall, MD and also for the medical offices of Dr's Cho and Rappole. In earlier years she had worked at the former Jamestown Electric Motors, the former Clair-Vi Shop and the former Plaza Apparel Shop.
Patricia was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lakewood and formerly the First Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Thule Lodge 127, VASA Order of America. She had also served as President of the PTA at Fletcher School from 1964-1965.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved traveling, camping and taking vacations with her late husband in their motor home. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing needlepoint and was an accomplished organ and piano player.
Surviving are a son, Gary H. (Nancy) Nelson of Ashville, NY, a daughter, Pamela L. (Jeff) Nelson of West Palm Beach, FL, two granddaughters, Kara L. (Steven) Pattison of Ft. Myers, FL, Holly A. Nelson of Ashville, NY, two nephews, Steven Anderson of Frewsburg, NY, Alan Anderson of VA.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George H. Nelson whom she married September 17, 1949 and who died November 23, 1999 and her sister Betty Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. (two hours prior to the service) Saturday in the funeral home.
