Obituary of Jane H. Anthony

Jane H. Anthony, 97 formerly of Jamestown, passed away Saturday February 13, 2016 in Topsfield, MA. She was born October 24, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Dr. Cheston M. Hoskins and Emma Brooks Hoskins. Jane was a Physical Education Major at Penn State University, graduating in 1941. She had worked as a substitute teacher in the Tunkhannok County, PA school system; the New Bethlehem School system for six years; and was a substitute teacher in the Jamestown Public School System for 26 years. Jane attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jamestown and was a member of the Eastern Star in Vermont. Jane's family and friends remember her as a devoted, loving, fun, funny, and energetic wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who always asked how she could help. They also recall how much she was appreciated by the Jamestown Public School System for her 26 years of reliable and valued substitute teaching. Jane will always be loved and never forgotten by those who knew her for the wonderful person she was day in and day out throughout her life. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Jane Mohney of North Carolina; three sons, Joseph G. Anthony II of Beverly, MA; Robert C. Anthony of Manchester, MA; William F. Anthony of Sisters, OR; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Anthony whom she married June 20, 1942 and who died December 19, 2003; two sisters, Ann Sheldon and Emma Greenamyer; and a brother, William Horace Hoskins. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
