Obituary of Ann Stone

Ann Stone, 98, formerly of Hern Avenue in Lakewood, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Lutheran Retirement Home. She was born February 22, 1918 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Ross and Carmella "Nellie" Ferrara Barber. In earlier years, she was employed as a sales clerk by the former Plaza Apparel. Ann later operated, along with her husband, Ronny, the Avis Rental Car Agency at the Jamestown Airport. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. Surviving are two sons: David R. Sorce of Jamestown and Domonic P. "Dick" Sorce (Diana) of Buena Vista, CO; five grandchildren: Kirk Sorce (Joy) of Valrico, FL, Craig Sorce (Melissa) of Wildwood, MO, Nicole Clark (Eric) and Michael Sorce, both of Lakewood, NY, and Cristie Kennedy of Buena Vista, CO; as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald B. Stone; and four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Ross and John Barber. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lind's. Deacon Samuel Pellerito will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
