Obituary of Virginia S. Gustafson

Virginia "Ginger" Mertie Amanda Schuyler Gustafson, 80, exited peacefully to her heavenly home on March 12, 2016. Ginger was born on November 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Lois Nickerson Schuyler and Edward Clarence Schuyler Ginger is survived by her faithful and loving husband Gilbert. She is also survived by her brother Ernest Schuyler. Ginger will be greatly missed by her children: Bruce & Dottie Gustafson, Stan & Brenda Rarick, and Carole & Todd Pelfrey; her grandchildren Laurie & Joshua Brewer, Melissa & Roger Baughan, Sarah Gustafson, Mark & Brooke Gustafson, Amanda & Patrick Scoville, Rachel & Jireh Miaw, Jared & Erika Pelfrey and Joshua Pelfrey; and her great grandchildren Samuel Brewer, Jacob Brewer, Alexia Miaw, Mckinley Baughan and Zoey Gustafson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Schuyler. Ginger and Gil were married for 63 years and they took great joy in their love for each other. Ginger and Gil worked side by side as business owners of Kaffestugan Restaurant in Jamestown, NY, and later by Levan's Catering in Orlando, FL. Ginger was an accomplished pianist and played her beloved hymns for 40 years in the Church of God, where she and Gil attended faithfully. When asked what her favorite hymn was she replied "they are all my favorites". Since moving to Tennessee, Gil and Ginger attended Heritage Church of God in Kingsport. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made in Ginger's name to a charity of your choosing.
