Obituary of Gerald Lee Morrison

Gerald L. "Jerry" Morrison, 78, of 302 Colfax St. Jamestown, passed away at noon Sunday, April 3, 2016, in his home following a brief illness. An area resident for most of his life, he was born August 4, 1937 in Warren, PA a son of the late Benjamin P. and Jessie H. Woodin Morrison. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the MRC-TRW Corporation for 37 years. During his retirement years he had worked for the Chautauqua Opportunities Weatherization Program for 10 years and most recently was working for Everydays True Value Hardware Store. Jerry was a self-taught carpenter having remolded several kitchens and bathrooms over the years. He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop where he built many trinkets and assorted lawn ornaments. He was one of those guys who could fix, repair and build just about anything. He was a member of the Busti Federated Church, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the United Auto Workers Union Local 338. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Cherryl L. "Chick" Hollenbaugh Morrison whom he married March 29, 1958, his three children, Thomas J. (Amy) Morrison, Terry (Willie) Morrison-Latta both of Busti, Shawn M. (Kimberly) Morrison of Celoron, four grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Morrison of Celoron, Jeremy Morrison of Jamestown, Andrew Latta, Kristen Latta both of Busti, two great grandsons, Ethan Morrison and Gage Morrison and two sisters, Norma (Ernie) Herringten of Lima, NY, Nancy Grant of Piffard, NY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Donald Morrison and two sisters, Louise Lundmark, Barbara Erickson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Busti Federated Church. The Rev. Lee O'Brien pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday.
