Obituary of Brenda Vanderwork

Brenda L. Vanderwork, 59, of 9297 Marks Corners Rd. Clymer, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 22, 2016, in the UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie,PA. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 20, 1956 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Sebastian J. "Joe" and Audrey E. Buell Franchina, Sr. She had been employed by the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility as a unit secretary for many years. In earlier years she was in retail management working for the former Hills Department Store and the former Ames Department Store. She will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved hunting, fishing and going shopping. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting where she made blankets for many of her family members. She was an avid collector of anything "Wizard of Oz" and her home is full of trinkets and figurines. Surviving is her husband, Terry L. Vanderwork whom she married June 27, 1998, five children, Jennifer (Bill) Haskins of Clymer, Ashley (Jesse) Wells of OK, Dawayne Vanderwork of Jamestown, NY, Melissa Vanderwork of Hickory, NC, Nina Vanderwork of Union City, PA, 11 grandchildren, Cierra, Macey, Tristin, Brianna, Brittany, Cheyanne, Katelyn, Alexis, Steven, Brighton, Anthony, a great grandson, Cayden Earle, two brothers, John (Peni) Franchina of TX, Randy (Dianne) Franchina of Jamestown, a sister, Linda (Ken) Burkey of Warren, OH as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Scott Martin, a daughter Mindy Martin, a grandson Mason Vanderwork, a brother Sebastian J. Franchina, Jr. and her Aunt Betty Marsh. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
