Diana,
A long time ago I lived next to your Dad on Lovell St. I remember him as a truly kind & gentle man. He would see me carrying one small sleeping son & then another to my apartment & so often he came out to help me carry in packages or groceries.
Funny, back then I never realized he was the same age as my own father.
I hope if you're ever back in Jamestown you'll give me a call. (716) 397-7773

My sister Beverly, who lives in Frewsburg, emailed me Dick's obituary. I was glad to be notified of his death. I remember him as one of the older teenagers in the Busti Church of God when I attended as a younger teen. He was someone I looked up to as a kind and decent person. I always admired the Thor family, and I send all of you my condolences. I have lived here in Columbia, Maryland, for the past 47 years.
With warm regards,
Norm

It was my pleasure to know Richard and call him a friend for the last 20+ years. He was an important part of my life as he and his family, led by his parents, Lillian and Ture, were part of a group of families that planted the Busti Church of God in 1937. As the Pastor of that church for nearly 21 years, that legacy is so important, not only to the members of our church, but to the Kingdom of God as a whole.
As our paths crossed over the years, without exception, I always felt his genuine concern, support, and love as a Christian brother. His warm smile and gentle demeanor are traits that I will never forget.
Though I will not be able to attend Richard's funeral, due to being in Indiana for my daughter's college graduation, my prayers are with each of you as you celebrate a life that endeavored to honor God in every way.
Blessings to all of you,
Roy Ferguson

My sincere condolences to Richard's family. I worked with Richard for 30 years at Dahlstrom. I remember Richard as a very honest and sincere person. Most days he always had a smile on his face and kind words to his fellow workers. I always had great respect for Dick as I called him and it was very evident everyone respected him. May he rest in peace
