I knew Jim well at F&M and accompanied him at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall for his audition there. We were working on Stravinsky's OEDIPUS REX when I was in an automobile accident with Dennis Kimball, our friend. I wrote a song cycle for Jim on texts by Stephen Corey. MILES GROTH

I travelled to the Woodstock festival in '69 with Jim. Had it not been for him, my life would not be the same. He knew his way around NY and he got a group of us in from the north as they had blocked all southern entrances. I never forgot his remarkable voice nor interest in music which I passed on to my sons. He was six years older than me, so he influenced my personal musical experience. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing, but extremely grateful for his musical influence on me and, subsequently, which resonated on my sons. THANKS, Jim!!

We regret that we are attending a family wedding in another state, so we could not attend funeral events. Jim was a true artist, and a good friend. He will be sorely missed in Jamestown, and around the world.

I have many good memories of visiting cousin Jimmy in Jamestown, when my father, William F. Beal, would bring his family from West Virginia every summer to visit all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Great childhood memories!
Rest in peace, Jimmy!

Jimmy was a long distance cousin because we lived in Ohio. Summer's were the time our family would make the trip to Jamestown to visit my father, Art Beal's family. It was always a trip we looked forward to because we got together with the Beal family!! We continued to stay in touch through the years with the return to Jamestown for weddings reunions and memorial services for our departed family members.
i loved my cousin dearly and want his daughter, Laura, to know that he will remain
in my memory. Rest in peace, Jim..

It was with great sadness that I learned of the loss of my friend, "Jimbo." After a half-century of being thrilled and entertained by his talent, it is his warm friendship I will miss most. And I know that I am far from being the only friend, or even acquaintance, who grieves !

Our thoughts are with you at this time. We all Loved Jimbo. I went to F&M and was probably a groupie for the band Rustoleum. He had a great voice and great harmonies. He was a friend to many. He always said hi to me. Many here in Lancaster and the friends he made and kept from F&M will miss him deeply.
Rest in Peace Jimbo
