Obituary of Eileen C. Hitchcock
Eileen C. Hitchcock, 71, of 9 East Newland Ave., Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
She was born November 28, 1944 in Columbia, PA a daughter of the late Elmer Matthew and Wanda Weckwert Elliott.
Before her retirement she was employed by Midway State Park for 28 years. She was best known as "Boots the Clown" and had also worked in the gift shop and in outside sales for Midway. In earlier years she had worked for the former Christian Book Store.
Eileen was an active member of the Tree of Life Parish at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the church council, taught Sunday school, was director of the food pantry and was a volunteer Secretary in the office.
She will be remembered as a loving, caring and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren meant the world to her. She was also part of the New Beginnings Family Restaurant in Sugar Grove, PA, where she loved being around her many friends that she considered family
Surviving are her husband, George P. Hitchcock whom she married April 16, 1988, two daughters, Cindy Smith of Gilbert, AZ, Amy (Steve) Bates of Longmont, CO, two sons, Matthew (Abby) Smith of Virginia Beach, VA, Timothy (Jessica) Smith of Jamestown, NY, seven grandchildren, Gage and Garin of Jamestown, Logan, Elliott, Logan, Cade of Virginia Beach, Christopher of Longmont, CO, two brothers, Larry (Maureen) Elliott of Woodbridge, VA, Wade Elliott of Newburg, NY, a sister, Cheryl (Harold) Middleton of Corry, PA, her mother in law, Ellen Hitchcock of Lander, PA as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a niece Tabitha Middleton, her father in law, Belmer "Bum" Hitchcock and two sisters in laws, Penny Hitchcock and Marie Elliott.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel Nagle, pastor of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
Memorials may be made to the Tree of Life Parish at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 825 Forest Ave. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to a charity of one's choice.
