Obituary of Leila A. Schroth
Leila A. "Lee" Schroth, 107, formerly of Schuyler Street, died Wednesday May 18, 2016, in heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A native of Smethport, PA, she was born May 14, 1909, a daughter of the late Raymond and Harriet Ostrander Abbey.
She was a graduate of Smethport High School and in 1929 graduated from Bradford Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed for 35 years by Bradford Hospital. Known as Miss Abbey by her co-workers, friends and patients, she worked the majority of her time on the night shift and was always available for any need that arose in the hospital. Lee served as Director of Nursing from 1963-66 and held the position of Assistant Director Nursing until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Surviving is a son-in law John Andrews of West Ellicott; three grandchildren James and John Andrews and Linda Sagurney; six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Jean Andrews in 2013; a twin brother Lynn Abbey; brother Forest Abbey and two sisters Janette and Ruth.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
