Obituary of Dawn E. Carney

Dawn E. Rowicki Carney, 53, of 33 Midgley St., passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Patrick J. Carney. Dawn was born in Jamestown on September 4, 1962 and was a 1980 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had been employed for 10 years by Rocket Express Delivery, Care Van Transportation for 10 years, and since 2007 as plant supervisor at TitanX Engine Cooling in Jamestown. Dawn was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Bemus Point Midget Football and was past, first woman president of the Lakeshore Midget Football League. In addition to her husband, Patrick, surviving is her mother, Lois J. Ganoe Johnson Howard (Cap) of Brookville, Fla.; a son, Ryan A. Rowicki (Hanni) of Rawlins, Wyoming; stepson, Christopher Carney of Jamestown; two grandchildren: Amanda and Alan Mench, both of Rawlins; a brother, Andrew C. Johnson, Jr. of Canandaigua, NY; as well as her loving little dog, Buddy. Dawn was also very excited for the arrival of twin grandchildren expected later this year by Ryan and Hanni. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew C. Johnson, Sr. in 2005 and a sister, Kimberly Johnson who died in 1965. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin R. McGinnis will officiate. Friends will be received for 3 hours prior to the service, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
