Obituary of Norma S. Anderson

Norma S. Anderson, 92, formerly of Bemus Point, died Sunday June 12, 2016, in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 15, 1923, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Carl and Lucile Swan Swanson. She was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School and in 1944 graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia as a registered nurse. She was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving as a nurse in Japan and the Philippines. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Visiting Nurses as a home health care visiting nurse. Norma was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church throughout the years. She served on the board of Foster Grandparents and Lutheran Social Services and was a member of Bemus Point Study Club. Surviving are seven children Jane (Doug) Jones, J. Robert (Kathleen) Anderson, Alice Anderson, Marian (Richard McLean) Anderson, Peter (Bridget) Anderson, William (Christine) Anderson and Charles (Ann) Anderson; thirteen grandchildren Michael (Carol McLaughlin) Anderson, Timothy (Maribel Torres) Anderson, Steven (Elizabeth) Anderson, Benjamin (LanAhn Phan) Jones, Caitlin Jones, James (Melissa) Anderson, William Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Edward Czech, David Anderson, Karyn Anderson, John Anderson and Mariah Anderson; seven great grandchildren and a brother John Swanson. She was preceded in death by her husband James C. Anderson, whom she married June 14, 1947 and who died October 6, 1964; a son James E. Anderson; a sister Alice Swanson and a brother Daniel Swanson. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
