Obituary of Roger A. Slagle

Roger A. Slagle, 70, formerly of Pancake Hill Road Bemus Point, and Russell, PA, passed away Wednesday June 15, 2016 in Absolut Care of Aurora Park. He was born December 8, 1945 in Warren, PA the son of the late Paul E. and Lois Chambers Slagle. Roger worked at Dahlstrom's, then at Blackstone Corporation for over 20 years, retiring as superintendent. Following retirement, he worked at Carborundum, owned Ramsey's Restaurant for a time, and was self employed as a contractor. He also drove bus for the Bemus Point School District and for Carrier Coach, traveling from Jamestown to Buffalo twice daily. He attended several technical classes at Jamestown Community College, receiving many Technical Certifications. Roger was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 F & AM; the Blue Lodge; the Shriner's; and he volunteered for the Eastern Star. Roger enjoyed helping his family build and fix things. He loved to plow snow. Roger enjoyed sports such as coaching baseball, playing softball, and bowling. He was an avid and skilled hunter and gun collector. Surviving are his daughter, Lorie Hildreth of West Seneca, NY; a son, Scot (Paula) Slagle of Warren, PA; his former wife, Sue Lauffenburger; three grandchildren, Zachary Slagle, Mia Hildreth, and Nicklaus Slagle; two step children, Brittni Hutley and Michael Hutley; several step grandchildren; and his separated wife, Debra Hutley Slagle. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Larry Slagle.; and a sister, Vivian Hester. A Masonic Lodge Funeral Service followed by a Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday June 18, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. (Following the service) Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt.
