Obituary of Ann D. Hughes

Ann D. Hughes, 95, formerly of 41 McKinley Ave. and 9 Crane St., passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was born January 10, 1921 in Troy, NY, a daughter of the late Clement A. and Jennie St. Clair Dwyer, and was a 1939 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. For 20 years Ann was a photographer at the Siegfried Studio in Jamestown, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church, a past president of the Mothers Club, vice-president of the CYO Sponsors, co-chair of the Marriage Encounters Group, and belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary. Surviving are three daughters: Patricia H. Fiorella of Lakewood, Maureen A. Dibble of Jamestown and Kathleen H. (Robert) Hagstrom of Huron, Ohio; and six grandchildren: Lawrence (Erika) Fiorella of Fredonia, Brian Fiorella and Stephanie Stafford, both of Jamestown, Jennifer Whitmore of Randolph, and Mitchell Hagstrom and Ann Hagstrom, both of Huron. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Jack Fiorella, Katherine Fiorella and Lillian Fiorella, all of Fredonia, and Janea Fiorella, Marissa Fiorella and Kayla Whitmore, all of Jamestown. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Hughes, whom she married January 21, 1942 and who died May 30, 1995; three sisters: Jane Manny, Beatrice Zima and Dorothy Cotrona; and three brothers: Richard, John and Clement Dwyer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Christ Chapel of the Lutheran Retirement Home, 715 Falconer St., Jamestown. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday in Christ Chapel.
