Obituary of Betty L. Sorg

Betty L. Sorg, 86, of Jamestown, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, she was born March 11, 1930 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Johnson Lane. Betty was a graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for the former Midstate telephone. In earlier years, she was employed by WCA Hospital. One of her most favorite things to do was to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed baking and her chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies will be sadly missed. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen Sorg of Jamestown and daughter, Julie Culhane of Bemus Point; grandchildren, Brendan (Carolyn) Sorg of Independence, Ohio and Stephanie (Jason) Labovitz of Seven Hills, Ohio; and sisters, Joyce Hall of Butler, Pa. and Beverly Carlson of Jamestown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lane and sister, Shirley Apitosh; cherished grandson, Robert Sorg; and son-in-law, Charles Culhane. The family would like to thank the staff and the caregivers of Heritage Green who compassionately cared for Betty the last three years. A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
