Obituary of Salvatore C. Gaeta

Salvatore C. Gaeta, 83, of Brookdale, formerly of 353 Delaware Ave Jamestown, passed away Tuesday June 28, 2016 in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born March 15, 1933 in Gerry, NY the son of the late James and Mary Baldano Gaeta. Salvatore was a 1950 graduate of Falconer High School where he lettered in track, and he attended Jamestown Community College. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a very proud machinist and foreman at MRC/TRW, retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Falconer. Salvatore was a member and past president of War Vets Rec. and was a founder, then president and life member of The Club Associates. During that time, he was involved in much charity work and fund raising activities through softball tournaments and other fund raisers which benefitted several local organizations, including the Children's Safety Village. Salvatore also touched many lives over the years through coaching bowling and Little League baseball. He was a volunteer coach on the Jamestown High School Bowling team that won States in 1983. More than anything, he truly loved his family. Surviving are his four children, Kathleen (Tim) Baker of Tully, NY; Kristine (Kevin) Stronz and David Gaeta of Jamestown; Karen (Dennis) Arcangel of Norton, OH; 11 grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Carlson of Bemus Point; Jason (Cassie) Stronz, Blake Carlson, Eric (Julie) Stronz, Brandon (Amanda) Carlson, Dylan Gaeta, Taige Gaeta, Drew Gaeta, Tristan Gaeta all of Jamestown; Alexandree Arcangel of Norton, OH; Sierra Sperranza of Jamestown; eight great grandchildren, Rider, Collin, Adelyn, Lyla, Cora, Evelyn, Thea, and Ella; and one great great granddaughter, Saylor. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carol Johnson Gaeta whom he married April 12, 1958 and who died February 2, 2011; and three brothers, Dominic, Frank, and Joseph Gaeta and three sisters, Rose and Nancy Gaeta and Nina Lodestro. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
