Obituary of Colene Bartell

Colene Harper Bartell, 84, formerly of Bemus Point, NY but currently residing with her daughter in Curwensville, PA, passed away Friday July 1, 2016 in Curwensville, PA. She was born December 12, 1931 in Cave, West Virginia to Raymond and Eva Moyers Harper. Colene graduated from Clearfield High School in 1950 and the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She had worked at Warren State Hospital, Clearfield Hospital, Chautauqua Brick Company, Day's Stationary, and for Dr. Mahesh Chander for over 20 years until retiring. She was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church, Bemus Point United Methodist Women, the Bemus Point Study Club, and the Clearfield Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association. Colene will be greatly missed and remembered by her family and friends for her crafts, cooking and baking, her heart of gold, for being a true fighter who never gave up on life no matter what obstacles were thrown her way, someone who always put others ahead of herself and her fun-loving ways and wry sense of humor that were with her to the very end. She is survived by her four children, Joni Bartell of Curwensville, PA; Richard Bartell; Randy Bartell of Holmdel, NJ; and Timothy Bartell (Melissa Burnett) of Bemus Point, NY. She was also a proud grandmother to her six grand kitties. Also surviving is a brother, Ronald Harper of Clearfield, PA and many much loved nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard George Bartell whom she married June 4, 1954 in Clearfield, PA and who died October 12, 2010 after 56 years of marriage; and a brother, George Harper of Clearfield, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Childs will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
