Obituary of Stanley L. Bachelor

Stanley L. Bachelor, 95, of 45 Melvin Ave. Celoron, passed away peacefully Saturday July 2, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 16, 1920 in Jamestown the son of the late Floyd and Edith Drake Bachelor. Stan was a graduate of Celoron High School and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. Prior to retirement in 1985, he was employed at Falconer Plate Glass for 38 years. He was a member of Celoron United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, trustee and former Board Chairman. Stan was also a member of the John W. Tiffany Post VFW, the West Ellicott Senior Citizens, and a life member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid sports fan. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth Myers Bachelor whom he married December 27, 1944; two sons, Gregory L. Bachelor; Gary W. (Marcia) Bachelor both of Celoron; two granddaughters, Lisa and Jennifer; seven great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence M. Johnson. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Heather Allport-Cohoon, pastor of Celoron United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
