Obituary of William D. Updike

William D. Updike Sr., 66, of 800 Harding Ave. Jamestown, passed away Monday July 11, 2016 in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. He was born April 12, 1950 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Raymond and Diane Green Updike Sr. Bill was a US Marine veteran. For 15 years, he worked at VSR Continuous Inc. in Westfield and previously at Moore Business forms in Elmira for 15 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Bill enjoyed gardening, sports, music, watching movies, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs Scooby and Snickers. Surviving are his wife Connie Becraft Updike whom he married January 31, 1970; three children, Donovan Updike of Jamestown; Misti Jo (Scott) Yancey of Forestville, NY; William "Billy" (Melissa) Updike Jr. of Jamestown; a granddaughter, Bethani Yancey of Forestville; two brothers, David Updike of Horseheads, NY; Raymond (Mary) Updike Jr. of Elmira; two sisters, Sandy Beeman of Sayre, PA; Deborah Rusczak of NC; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Major Richard Best will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (two hours prior to the service) in the funeral home.
