Obituary of Richard P. Kogut
Richard P. Kogut, 90, of Celoron, died Sunday July 24, 2016, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A native of Buffalo, he was born September 19, 1925, a son of the late Peter and Helen Malanowski Kogut.
Following graduation from high school he served in the US Air Force during WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
Prior to his retirement he was employed for nearly 40 years by Westinghouse in Cheektowaga as an inspector.
He was a life member of several veterans organizations including Herman Kent Post #777Ameican Legion, holding various offices, past commander of AMVETS #45 and Lakewood Memorial Post #1286, Veterans of Foreign Wars #557 Ellery Center and War Vets Recreation. He was a Village of Celoron trustee until just recently and was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, Celoron Moose and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are three children Janice (Dan Phillips) Yoder of Depew, Peter (Beth) Kogut of Amherst and Lisa (Chuck) Cwiklinski of Depew; five grandchildren Kelly (Daryl) Hahn, Ben and Larissa Kogut and Cody and Justin Cwiklinski; two great grandchildren DJ and Kayla Hahn; a sister Dorothy Wieczorek and a nephew Jim (Donna) Wieczorek.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Julia Zorowak in 1992: and a brother, Art Kogut.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home where military honors will be conducted at 7 p.m. No funeral service will be observed.
