Obituary of Gregory M. Neid

Gregory M. Neid, Sr., 62, of 1402 Shadyside Road, Lakewood, died Monday August 1, 2016 in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born December 1, 1953, in Jamestown, a son of the late Michael and Jacqueline Thomas Neid. He was a 1972 graduate of Jamestown High School. Greg was a self-employed contractor who had earlier in his life worked for Chautauqua Hardware. He was a member of Southern Tier Classic Chevy Club having served as treasurer. His other memberships include Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed everything about cars and served as the announcer for the World Series of Cars at Bergman Park. His greatest love he reserved for his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife Janet Holm, whom he married June 3, 1989; three children Gregory Neid, Jr. and Brian (Tonya) Neid, both of Jamestown and Melisa(Henry) Schultz of Mt. Vernon, IN; two step children Jeffrey Aldrich and Randy Aldrich both of Jamestown; grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Tage, Devon, Jonathan and Gage Neid, Henry Schultz III, Seth and Alexis Schultz and Austin, Christopher, Jason, Angel and Heather Aldrich; several great grandchildren and siblings John (Linda) Neid, Eileen Neid, Michele (Dennis) Deuble and Patricia Canby all of Jamestown and Joseph (Kathy) Neid of Utah. He will be missed by his friends from the car club and his dog Bandit. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Deacon Samuel Pellerito will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
