Obituary of James M. Harrier, Sr.

James M. Harrier, Sr., 83, of 5 Flagg Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident since 1962, he was born January 4, 1933 in Austin, PA, a son of the late Elijah and Nettie McCann Harrier. Before his retirement he was a security guard at Bush Industries for several years and had earlier worked for Proto Tool Company. He was a former member of the Jamestown Eagles Lodge and will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his dogs. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Susanne J. Bush Harrier whom he married November 17, 1962, three sons, James M. Harrier, Jr., Jeffrey A. (Betty) Harrier both of Jamestown, Mark A. (Sylvia) Harrier of Angier, NC, five grandchildren, Craig Van Hook, Adrian Van Hook, Gabrielle Harrier, Andrew Harrier all of Jamestown, Julianne Harrier of Angier, NC, a great grandson, Zade James Van Hook and his brother Harold Harrier of Port Allegany, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Van Hook, two brothers, Robert Harrier and Elijah Harrier, Jr., two sisters, Ruth Dynda and Cynthia Harrier and a daughter in law, Deborah G. Harrier. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert E. Reeves, pastor of the Zion Tabernacle will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received following the service at the Zion Tabernacle.
