Obituary of Ronald R. Matter

Ronald R. Matter, Sr., of 4627 Railroad Avenue West, Stockton, NY, and Mesa, AZ, formerly of Sturges Street, Jamestown, died Wednesday August 17, 2016, in his home in Stockton. He was born September 24, 1940, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Cornelius and Bernice Hughes Matter. He attended Cattaraugus Central School. Since 1972 he was employed as a bus driver for various companies including Blue Bird, Niagara Scenic and Coach USA, retiring in 2009. He loved his years spent driving and all of the people he met. In earlier years he worked for Steamburg Milk Plant and Blackstone, Inc. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a charter member of Randolph Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife Fanny Burnett Matter, whom he married September 29, 1962; four children Ronald (Vicky) Matter, Jr of Cattaraugus, Kevin (Kuan) Matter of Indian Land, SC, Richard (Lorri) Matter of Frewsburg and Michelle (Mark) Jelsma of New River, AZ; two grandchildren Allen (Katie) Matter of Silver Creek and Ashley Hall of Fort Carson, CO; two step grandchildren Tyler and Alyssa Willibey; two great grandchildren Ayden and Myles Matter; three sisters Rose Marie Masi of Silver Creek, Patricia Ray of Ellington and Norley Richter of Forestville; a special nephew Aaron (Kathy) Burnett of Stockton and his faithful dog Breezy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and William Matter and two sisters Joyce Butcher and Sharon Near. The funeral will held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Hinman will officiate. Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
