Obituary of Alvera O. Nelson

Alvera O. "Bea" Nelson, 90, of 25 Beech St., Jamestown, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of Roy A. Nelson, whom she married September 30, 1946 and who died March 16, 2009. Bea was born in Jamestown on November 16, 1925, a daughter of the late Lyman Chester and Orpha Johnson Deming and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she had been employed by Jamestown Telephone. Throughout the years, she had been a member of the Moose, Vikings and Thule lodges and the VFW. Bea loved her family and was especially thankful for her granddaughter, Diandra Morgan and niece, Sherry Raymond, both of whom helped with her care in later years. An animal lover, Bea particularly enjoyed caring for her cats. She is survived by a son, Larry L. (Debra) Nelson of Fort Pierce, Fla. and summer residents of Falconer, NY; two grandchildren: Diandra K. (Steve) Morgan of Ashville, NY and Derek Tyler Roy (Samantha) Nelson of Fayetteville, NC; four great-grandchildren: Lukas, Payton, Kylie Kay and Konner Roy Morgan; niece, Sherry Raymond of Jamestown; as well as several cousins, including Alvie Brentley of Cleona, Pa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Garey L. Nelson and Terry L. Nelson; daughter, Cynthia Alyce Nelson; sister, Alyce Deming; and brother, Alton Deming. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
