Obituary of Patrick T. Finnerty

Patrick T. Finnerty, Sr., 70, of 5968 Niobe Rd. ,Panama, NY, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 22, 1946, in Jamestown, NY, son of the late Charles and Melba (Lanni) Finnerty. Patrick was a graduate of Panama Central School, class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1969 and was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he earned the Expert Marksmanship medal. He was a former Postmaster of the Niobe Post Office, Supervisor of Grant Cemetery, and member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He worked for SKF/MRC Bearings for 38 years, retiring in 2010 as a Supervisor of Final Inspection. Patrick enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, playing cards, winemaking, and riding his motorcycle. He also loved playing his electric guitar and in his younger years played in a band called The Apostles. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Finnerty; two daughters: Gina (Kurt) Lund of Corry, PA; Alicia (Jason) Brown, of Ashville, NY; two sons: Patrick (Carrie) Finnerty and Matthew (Billie Jo) Finnerty, both of Panama, NY; eight grandchildren: Tyler and Natalie Lund, Jacob and Madison Finnerty, Alexis, Alexandria, and Aiden Finnerty, and Natalie Brown; a sister, Charlayne McIntyre of Panama, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Lind Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Lind Funeral Home.
