Obituary of Robert L. Burley

Robert L. Burley, 80, of 278 Fairmount Avenue,Jamestown,NY, died Wednesday August 31, 2016, in Select Specialty Hospital, Erie, PA. He was born September 3, 1935, in Lakewood, NY, a son of the late George and Fern Jolls Burley. Following graduation for Southwestern Central School in 1955, he served in the US Navy from 1955-59. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Board of Public Utilities as a control room foreman and later worked for Jamestown Board of Education as a school bus driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Southwestern Central High School Class of 1955 Reunion Committee. His family includes his wife the former Eleanor Rhinehart, whom he married September 24, 1960; five children Daniel (Shellene) Burley of Celoron, Deborah (Rob) Gibson of Youngsville, PA, the late Jean Burley, William (Scott Mekus) Burley of Jamestown and Cassondra (Adam) Rohlfer of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren Joshua (April) Klice, Patrick (Megan) Klice, Jeremy (Ashley) Klice, Samantha (Shawn) Lawson, Bobby (Donald Myers) Morris, Simone Gibson, Dakota (Amber Bower) Morris and Chloe and Ava Rohlfer; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother the late William Burley and a sister Marian Alm of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Jean Burley and a brother William Burley. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
