Obituary of Victor W. Carlson

Victor W. Carlson, Jr., 85, of 184 Frederick Blvd. West Ellicott, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family. A lifelong area resident, he was born April 29, 1931 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Victor W. and Ebba L. Brandquist Carlson, Sr. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School Class of 1949. Before his retirement, he was employed for over 35 years for the National Fuel Gas Company. Vic was a life member of the Jamestown Eagles Lodge and also a member of the War Vets Recreation Club and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved to spend time taking care of his home. He loved mowing the lawn and tending to the garden and just sitting in the backyard watching all the animals. He was also a very meticulous person and was very generous to many organizations over the years. Surviving are a daughter, Sue A. Wilder (Jeff) with whom he made his home, a son, Bradley E. Carlson (Donna) of Ellery Center, NY, four grandchildren, Chan B. Carlson (Christina) of Cleveland, OH , Ryan J. Carlson (Christine) of Mayville, NY, Jeffrey Volk (Linh) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jennifer Volk of Gerry, NY, three great grandsons, Benjamin and Zachary Carlson of Mayville, Lincoln Carlson of Cleveland, his loving sister, Eleanor V. Frick and a niece Karen Frick both of Falconer, NY and his special friends Louis and Doris Landy of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, the former Marlene E. Wright Carlson whom he married February 24, 1951 and who died August 27, 2014, a grandson, Bradley S. Carlson, a brother, Robert N. Carlson and a sister, Evelyn E. Knapp. A private graveside service will be held in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016, in the Lind Funeral Home.
