Obituary of Stanley L. Christenson

Stanley L. "Chick" Christenson, 89, formerly of 24 Roland Rd. Jamestown, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident, he was born October 11, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Stanley J. and Frances A. Anderson Christenson. He was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a former member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 Free and Accepted Masons, the Jamestown Shrine Club, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the John W. Tiffany Post 53, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Stanley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II from January 25, 1945 to June 21, 1946 on the USS Wasp. Before retirement he was employed as a Supervisor for the former Norquist Products of Jamestown where he worked for over 20 years. He later worked for Canteen Vending Company and was a custodian for the Jamestown Public School System for several years. Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years, Jacqueline McGee Christenson whom he married November 30, 1946, a son, Reynold Christenson of Rochester, NY, four grandchildren,, Dr. Jeffrey Christenson, Stephen Christenson, Amy Galati and Tricia Mohney and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a nephew Bruce Anderson who was his constant caregiver for many years. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Christenson, a brother, Gale Christenson and a sister, Leona "Lee" Anderson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran Social Services will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one half hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
