Obituary of Carl D. Piazza

Carl David Piazza, 65, of Gerry NY passed away peacefully Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the Heritage Village Nursing home. Carl was born on October 22, 1950 in Jamestown NY, the son of the late Carl and Allene Piazza. Carl attended and graduated from Jamestown schools and was great musician/ keyboard player in his younger years, emulating the music of James Brown. He served in the US Army from 1970 until his honorable discharge in 1972. Carl always had a wonderful sense of humor, was generous and kind to a fault and had a natural love of music and cars. He took great pride in his cars and they were very well maintained. His family and friends all loved and cared about Carl. He always had a smile and a wave for friends and strangers. His caregivers at JAMA and the VA loved to see Carl come in and greeted him warmly. He had a natural gift of winning stuffed animals in the "crane" machines and would routinely make the rounds generously donating the stuffed animals to anyone that he knew including the kids' ward at the WCA, nurses at the VA, bank tellers and family kids. He is survived by two brothers, Warren (Dian) Piazza and Bill (Kathryn) Piazza; nieces and nephews: Steve Piazza, Karen Buck, Patrick (Katrina) Piazza, Marla (Andrew) Piazza-Siegel, Nichole (Gary) Segrue; great nieces and nephews: Abby Piazza, Steven Piazza, Mark Piazza, Drake Piazza, Bethany Buck, Lindsey (Pete) Johnson, Sydney Segrue, Sophia Segrue, Rosemary Segrue, Layne Siegel, Allison Buck, Aidan Piazza and Ayla Piazza. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 to 3pm Sunday in the funeral home.
