Obituary of Amada Peters

Amada "Amy" Peters, 71, of Rt. 60, Gerry, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016, in the Providence Memorial Hospital, El Paso, TX, while visiting her family in Texas. An area resident since 1968, she was born September 9, 1945 in Parral Chihuahua, Mexico, a daughter of the late Serapio and Rosa Chavez Valenzuela. Amy was a stay at home mom for her children and also babysat for several families in the Gerry area. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always thought of other people first. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her close group of friends. She was also an avid New York Mets fan and she and her husband never missed a Mets game on TV. Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Peters, Sr. whom she married December 29, 1967 in El Paso, TX, two sons, Thomas E. (Joanna) Peters, Jr. of Hamburg, NY, Michael E. (Stephanie) Peters of Jamestown, five grandchildren, Carson Peters, Lauren Peters both of Jamestown, Aidan Peters, Anthony Peters, Brianna Feeney all of Hamburg, NY, four sisters, Dora Minjares, Petra Tomasello both of El Paso, TX, Cesarea Valenzuela, Rosamaria Valenzuela both of Parral Chihuahua, Mexico and a brother Jose Valenzuela of Parral Chihuahua, Mexico. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Guillermo Valenzuela. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
