Obituary of Caryl J. Butler

Caryl J. Butler, 87, formerly of 279 Prospect Street, died Monday October 10, 2016, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A Jamestown native, she was born February 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mabel Olson Meehan. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. Over the years she had worked at Darrell's Beauty Supply as a bookkeeper, The Cake Shop and Inter Royal Credit Union serving as treasurer. She was a former member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary, Diana Lodge and the Eagles Club Auxiliary where she was a past president. An avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Surviving are two sons David Butler of Jamestown and Donald (Tabetha) Butler of Ashville; five grandchildren Dawn Marie (Timothy) Kaylor of Shreveport, LA, David D. Butler of Jamestown, Michael S. (Erica) Butler of Charlotte, NC, Peter T. Butler of Geneseo, NY and Molly T. Butler of Cuba, NY and five great grandchildren including Dean, Alexa and Amelia Kaylor. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Duane Butler, whom she married February 4, 1950 and who died July 2, 2015; a son Daniel Butler; a daughter-in-law Vicky Jo Butler and a sister Shirley Larson. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
