Obituary of Lyle E. McIntyre

Lyle E. McIntyre, 93, 661 Pine Ridge Rd, Busti, died Wednesday October 12 at the Warren Manor. Mr. McIntyre was born July 3, 1923 in Lander, PA to Carl and Freeda McIntyre . He was a self-employed painter and contractor in the Jamestown area from 1959 to 1980. He also was employed by Chris Craft, Erie Railroad, Marlin Rockwell, Warren Construction, and Elander Construction, all of Jamestown. He was a past member of the Busti Volunteer Fire Department and served as a director. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 53, Jamestown. Mr. McIntyre served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945, obtaining the rank of Tech. Sergeant. He served in the 29th Division, Company C., 115th Infantry in Europe (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany). He entered France June 1944 as part of the Allied invasion. He was wounded in Germany November 16, 1944. His medals include the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the New York Conspicuous Service Cross, and the Normandy Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty. Mr. McIntyre is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jenny McIntyre of the home; two sons, David (Candy) McIntyre, Hannibal, NY and Gary (Sharon)McIntyre, Mansfield, PA.; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Mark) Lagoda, Fulton, NY, and Hilary McIntyre, Hannibal, NY, and Justin (Tamara) McIntyre, Warren, PA.; three great grandchildren, Ruby and Blue Lagoda, and Cora McIntyre. Also surviving are two brothers, Lewis McIntyre, Busti, and Glenn McIntyre, Sugar Grove. In addition to his parents, Mr. McIntyre was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald McIntyre and Richard McIntyre; four sisters, Allene Hamilton, Crystal Sweeney, Shirley Tilburg, and Freeda Fosburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday October 16, 2016 in the Lind Funeral Home.
